Christmas

This year for Christmas, we flew back to Salt Lake to be with my family because my parents just got home from serving a year and a half senior couples mission in Santiago, Chile. It was a crazy visit filled with seeing lots of friends, eating lots of food and spending time of lots of family. That's a lot of 'lots'. :) We arrived Monday the 21st at night and the very next morning we had plans to go see the Gateway Discovery Children's Museum with the rest of my family. This place was awesome! Sadly, we didn't stay very long because I had scheduled lunch with a a group of my friends.
K1 placing a ball down a tube. They had a room filled with tubes that went everywhere. Some had air blowing through them to force the balls to shoot up high to them spiral back down again.
PC explaining where the balls are going (pointing at the tubes)
Next we moved on to the "farm" They had fake trees that you could pick fruit, or a life size representation of a horse that kids could saddle up. K1 was excited to gather the eggs from the chickens and stockpile them in the tracker bed.
Driving while holding his eggs :)
We finally moved on to the toddler section that had toys that were more intellectually friendly for someone K1's age. They also had this cool tree house thing and of course, we had to get a picture of K1 in front of it. Me and my birds...
Next, we went to lunch with my friends at the California Pizza Kitchen. It was so wonderful to see all my friends and chat and laugh and catch up. Three of us are married and 2 of those three now have kids. Crazy how time flies. This visit was easily the favorite part of my entire trip.
Of course, no visit to Salt Lake a Christmas time is complete without seeing the lights at Temple Square. I was actually very excited to see them as it had been 3 years since I had last seen them.
If you can't tell, K1 was a little bit tired by the end of our walking around.
It's weird to think that 2 and a half years prior, PC and I were taking wedding pictures at this exact spot. Then we were two, now we are 3 and a half :)

Other fun things we did included driving up to Logan and surprising some of our friends at a Christmas party and spending time with PC's family here in Salt Lake. PC's parents decided to drive to up Salt Lake because one of his siblings lives there and we were flying in. It was so great to sit and chat and have K1 play with them. On the 26th, we also went to a family Christmas party for PC where we got to see many of his cousins. Sadly we didn't stay very long that night because K1 was a mess. Oh well.
Christmas morning! We decided to go simple on Christmas this year because our flying out was our present to ourselves and K1 doesn't really get opening presents yet. BUT I couldn't do nothing, so I made us stockings and stuffed them with some goodies. In K1's case, he got a bunch of matchbox cars. Oddly enough, out of all the presents the boy cousins got, everyone kept coming over and playing with K1's little cars. :)
Opening a gift from Grandma J. It was the Ear Book! Thanks Grandma.

PC flew back home a week after we arrive and I elected to stay a week or so longer. My intent was to help my mom deep clean her house and help her on her feet. I did do some of that, but not nearly as much as I had intended. The main barrier for both of us was getting sick. My mother go REALLY sick and was in bed most of the time, and I was sick, but still trying to take care of K1. Oh well. It was nice to spend that extra time with my mama.
