Beach Bums

Our little family (mostly me) had been wanting to go to the beach all summer and we finally made the 3 hour trek the first weekend in August. We were hoping to try a new beach and thought we had the right address, but 4 hours and lots of traffic later we found ourselves at Bethany Beach and decided to stop even though that was not our intended destination.
K1 loves swimming in pools and taking baths, but he was not a fan of the ocean. I think it was probably the temperature of the water. He enjoyed playing in the sand for a little while and, of course, he tried to eat some. Gotta loves babies. Thankfully, he was pretty tired when we got there and fell asleep in his pack n' play sooner thereafter.
Interestingly, the tide was unusually high that day. The water came up past the normal breaking point and started to flood the beach. PC was taking a swim when the drama started. Thankfully a woman came over and asked if I needed help moving the pack n' play (with sleeping K1) and as we were lifting it up, a 6 inch deep rush of water came in. WHEW! PC showed up a few seconds later to round up our floating belongings.
The time at the beach was short, but still lots of fun. We're hoping someday (a long way down the road) we'll be able to rent a beach house and stay the weekend. It would be so great not to have to drive 6+ hours in a day. Here's to hoping :)

Fun! I'm glad that you made it to the beach this summer! Crazy that the tide came in so far so quickly . .. I'm glad that you were able to save K1 and your stuff.
