Memorial Day

On Memorial Day our little family decided to go swimming in the pool at our apartment complex. This was K1's first time "swimming". The water was a little bit too cold for him. His little lips turned a light shade of blue and didn't lighten up like I hoped after 10, or so, minutes.
We thought we had a brilliant idea of how to teach K1 to hold his breath. We decided to blow a gust of air into his face so that he would take in a breath and then dunk him. I did that the first time and he came up sputtering. PC said,"What did you dunk him so deep for! Sheesh, we don't want to drown him!" Oops. We only dipped him twice after that and felt he'd had enough. I thought for sure we'd scared him and he wouldn't like swimming, but he still loves it. Crazy kid. :)
We got out of the pool a little early and stripped K1 down to his diaper so that he could warm up a little. The rashguard he was wearing kept the water in and therefore kept him cold. We played by the poolside for a while and then headed home. We all took naps that afternoon and then gathered supplies for an evening barbecue picnic with our friends the Snow's, Prince's, Barrus', and Mckinney's. We ate lots of great food and had even better company. All in all, it felt like a mini vacation :).
