Camping!!!
On Friday we went to our ward camp out. We thought this would be a great way to get to know more people in our ward and just get out as a family. Some people thought we were nuts for bringing K1, but I say "start 'em young!". We weren't prepared for this manicured "camping" experience. The camp ground that we went to not only had a golf course but an icecream parlor, playgrounds and a mini train for the kids. Awesome. It was great, we showed up, set up our tent and took our tin foil dinners over to the dining area. Some people brought tin foil dinners, others were roasting hot dogs and some people decided on the low hassle approach and brought pizza. :) I experimented with our dinners and made ranch chicken with peppers, squash and zucchini. It was so good!! Probably not the best place to be experimenting with food considering what would have happened if it didn't work out...(no food at all), but it worked out. We chatted and roasted s'mores and enjoyed our surroundings. We had a small campfire program consisting of stories and a ward 'symphony'. We were the clarinet section.
That night we settled in our tent and were apprehensive about K1 and how he would sleep. He was a champ. Woke up twice to eat and then went right back to sleep both times. Despite his awesome sleeping skills, PC and I still hardly slept. Our ages were rubbed in our faces when we could feel every bump and rock in the ground. Next time, we are going to purchase sleeping pads so we can all sleep better. In the morning we ate pancakes and eggs provided by the ward. Yum. All in all, we had a blast and are excited for future camping excursions.
